A key part of our mission is to support bird research and environmental education. Whether you are a Champaign County educator or Illinois researcher, you can apply for funding from the Champaign County Audubon Society.
Kendeigh Research Grant
Each year, we fund research projects about the biology, ecology, and conservation of Illinois birds, through our Kendeigh Grants for Ornithology Research. Researchers can apply for up to $2,000 for their project.

Deadline: The 2024 application period is now closed.
Notifications of awards will be made in April.
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by members of the CCAS Conservation Committee.
Application Must Contain:
The applicant’s name, mailing address, phone number, and email address
Description of the research to be carried out
Proposed budget
Evidence of your qualifications to do the research, including a brief CV and at least 2 references

Mini-Grants for Educators
Support for Champaign County educators who want to bring environmental education to their students through creative projects and learning materials. Educators can apply for up to $500 for their grant.

Deadline: Applications are due October 18, 2024.
Notifications of awards will be made in November.
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by members of the CCAS Education Committee. The final choices will be made by the Champaign County Audubon Board. Only one grant will be awarded to any single educator. However, multiple educators may submit requests to pool funds for a larger collaborative project.
